A cat owner recently went viral after revealing that her feline doesn't like her boyfriend, and internet users can't believe what she does every time she sees him.

In a viral Reddit post shared on Thursday by u/Hot_Bass_5090, the poster asks users: "Why is my cat always mad when my boyfriend comes over?"

"She will randomly bite him, and he's definitely got a healthy fear/respect for the cat. I can tell she's mad here because her pupils are dilated. Other people she's disliked but eventually warmed up to them."

Along with the post, she shared a picture of the gray-and-white cat looking visibly upset when in the presence of the boyfriend. The photo clearly shows the feline's dilated pupils and ears backward, which is exactly what cats look like when mad.

Linda Hall, owner at The Cat Behaviorist, told Newsweek that felines have a reason for everything they do. She added that cats can hold long-term memories for decades, usually for anything really great or really bad.

Hall said: "Cats will never dislike someone without a reason. If the person was unkind to the cat, they will remember and fear them, which can result in either fight (attacks) or flight (hiding and isolating). It could even be an accident, like stepping on the cat.

"I've seen many cats who are automatically distrustful of men. Their voices are usually deeper, and their walk is usually louder. The cat has not learned whether or not this type of human is good or bad so they go in with distrust."

Hall added that cats are extremely territorial of their resources, including food, litter boxes and humans, which are all very important to survival. The feline might be acting out fear of losing their human to their new partner.

Hall said: "I strongly suggest anyone new in your life make themselves an important resource. Let them do the feeding and treat dispensing. They should be respectful of the cat's space and do not try to pick the cat up or force their affections.

"The cat has to choose. We can only try to help influence their decision," Hall added.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 38,000 upvotes and 548 comments on the platform.

One user, Faida_able, commented: "Clearly wants all the attention."

Spare-Action-1014 said: "[Boyfriend] stinks. Meaning that [boyfriend] doesn't smell like her. This is wrong. Everything in that house is supposed to smell like her, including the family dog!"

Andreortigao added: "My wife and I used a simpler solution when we were still dating, we just rubbed catnip on ourselves."
